Using this site / compatibility issues

Digital Hartlepool makes extensive use of a variety of media, and most will pop-up into separate browser windows like this one in order to ensure you never lose your place while browsing the main categories and media galleries.

This site has also been tested on a variety of systems to ensure the maximum amount of compatibility across the widest range of settings (for specific details of the optimal settings, use the SITE REQUIREMENTS AND CREDITS button at the bottom of the site). However, there are some web browsers that will only allow ONE such window to be opened at any time, while Windows XP users with Service Pack 2 installed will need to disable the default Pop-Up Blocker and enable Active Media whereever necessary. Therefore, we recommend that you close down any windows you have finished with using the CLOSE WINDOW button that is placed at the TOP RIGHT of every Digital Hartlepool sub-window that opens.

If you click on a link which does not appear to open, it may be that you have such a browser or XP security set too high - check your Taskbar at the base of the screen for any stray open Digital Hartlepool windows (see example below), close them, and then try again. This will fix the problem.

This site has been optimised for 32-bit MS Windows operating systems (XP/ME/2000), but will work within older versions of Windows and the Macintosh Operating System. Media files, however, are compressed for Windows playback only. They will only work on Macintosh computers with a suitable emulation program installed. Refer to your user manual for details.

Despite its high visual content, this site has been optimised for the fastest possible download times. However, some content, such as sound and video, will require longer download times on modem connections. Slower connections may also affect the performance of the Webcams.
